Biography

Bass-baritone of Teramo, he studied with the mezzo-soprano Marina Gentile and he received a diploma with the highest marks at the Conservatoy of Rodi Garganico.
After following courses with the Masters E. Battaglia and R. Resnik, in 1992 he won a scholarship to the XXX edition of the International Competition "Vinas" in Barcelona and in 1994 won a scholarship at the IV Concorso Internazionale "Angelica Catalani" in Ostra (AN).
In 1995 he was selected to play the role of Don Alfonso in "Cosi Fan Tutte" by W. A. Mozart for the Foundation "W. Walton" and take the course "Il cantante attore", the following year he won the XXVIII International Competition "Toti Dal Monte" in Treviso, with the role of Geronimo in "Il Matrimonio Segreto" by D. Cimarosa.
In 1998 he won the VII International Competition "S. and G. Giacomantonio" of Cosenza, with the role of Don Alfonso in "Così fan tutte" by W. A. Mozart.

Great performer in the roles of Buffo Baritone in a repertoire that ranges from the eighteenth century to Mozart and Rossini, sang in the following years, in the biggest Italian and European theaters:
Teatro dell'Opera of Roma, Teatro Comunale in Florence, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Massimo of Palermo, San Carlo in Naples, Comunale di Bologna, Alla Scala in Milan, Regio in Turin, Bellini in Catania, A. Rendano of Cosenza, in
the Lombard theater circuit , Teatro Sociale di Mantova, Comunale di Modena, Savona, Treviso and Rovigo.
He has also sung in France in Toulouse, Avignon, Lyon, Bordeaux, Rouen, Massy, Nice, Toulon, Opera Garnier in Paris, in Spain at the Liceu in Barcelona, at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in England, Edinburgh in Scotland, Ireland, the "Wexford Festival Opera, the Theater of the Kremlin in Moscow, at the Opera of Lausanne in Switzerland, La Monnaie in Brussels in Belgium, at the Opernhause of Graz in Austria.

He has made recordings on DVD and Blue-ray of the Opera "La Cenerentola" of G. Rossini, for Opus Arte (Glyndebourne) and "L'Elisir d'Amore" by G. Donizetti for opus Arte (Glyndebourne), "Il Matrimonio Segreto" by D. Cimarosa, "Una Domanda di Matrimonio" by L. Chailly. "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" by G. Rossini for the Project Opera Foundation Tercas.
On CD "Live" he has made recordings of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" by G. Paisiello for Dynamic, "Lo Sposo Burlato" by G. Paisiello and "Il Marito Disperato" by D. Cimarosa for Bongiovanni, and "L'Eroismo Ridicolo" by G. Spontini  for Arcadia, L. Perosi "Requiem," Masterpieces of Sacred Music, for Eurobottega, Assicurazioni Generali.

He has sung under the direction of important masters such as: Z. Meta, B. Campanella, P. Maag, V. Jurowski, D. Renzetti, R. Alessandrini, O. Dantone, G. Gelmetti, W. Humburg, R. Abbado, G. Ferro, A. Zedda, M. Arena, D. Callegari, F. Carminati, M. Benini.

Since 2008 he is Artistic Director of the Festival ArteinCanto, City of Basciano.

Future engagements include Il Barbiere di Siviglia of G. Rossini in Tokyo, Japan, in the role of Bartolo, La serva padrona of G. Paisiello in the Festival of baroque music Purtimiro of Lugo di Romagna, Il viaggio a Reims of G. Rossini in the Bolshoitheater of Moscow and La Boheme in the theater Alla Scala of Milan.
